About Pap tests or Pap smears
Most women diagnosed with cervical cancer have not had regular Pap tests.
Having a Pap test every two years is the best way women can protect themselves against cervical cancer – regular Pap tests can prevent around nine out of 10 cervical cancers.
Making the decision to have a Pap test is an individual choice. This screening test has benefits and some limitations.
