Congratulations to the 33 nominees and the six award winners of the inaugural Nurse Pap Test Provider Awards!

PapScreen Victoria is exceptionally proud of the dedication and achievements of nurse Pap test providers in Victoria.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the next Nurse Pap Test Provider Awards in three years!

And the winners are:

Kristine Hogg, Robinvale District Health Services
Commitment to Underscreened Group Award:
Nurse Pap test providers who have shown exceptional commitment and dedication to educating and screening women at greatest risk, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, culturally and linguistically diverse women, women with disabilities and women in remote or rural communities.

Kristine has been a nurse Pap test provider for 13 years and during this time has made significant efforts to engage with rural and isolated culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Robinvale. Kristine’s strategies have ranged from running community events and developing a health education package for Pacific Islander women to offering health promotion evenings to the Asian community. Kristine also provides outreach screening appointments to isolated communities outside of Robinvale.

Brigitte Weber, Albury Community Health Services
Excellence in Preceptorship Award: Nurse Pap test providers who are registered as a preceptor with the Victorian Preceptor Program and who provide excellent tuition, support and role modelling to newly trained nurse Pap test providers.

Brigitte is enthusiastic about her work, accessible, approachable and friendly. She always acts as an energetic mentor to students. Brigitte's commitment to the role and her constant championing of the need for women to be vigilant about their health results in her being absolutely excellent as a preceptor.

Anita Erlandsen, Tristar Medical Group, Mildura
Outstanding Graduate Award:
Nurse Pap test providers who have completed a Victorian accredited Pap test training course, credentialled with PapScreen Victoria in the past 24 months, and have shown outstanding dedication to the nurse Pap test provider role.

Anita works in a busy GP clinic and as well as providing a weekly nurse-led Pap clinic she provides education to resident and visiting GPs, to ensure they also provide sensitive and appropriate women’s health checks. Anita has also supported the large Muslim community in the region to attend her clinics.

Anne Watts, Sunraysia Community Health Services, Mildura
Highest Number of Pap Tests Award: Nurse Pap test providers who have taken the highest number of Pap tests in the last three years.

Anne took an astonishing 2426 Pap tests over the last three years! Anne has worked at Sunraysia Community Health Services in Mildura for the last 17 years and her work has focused on engaging underscreened and at-risk groups of women in the screening program, particularly those from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Anne was also nominated for the Excellence in Preceptorship and Commitment to Underscreened group categories.

Alison Kincaid, Border Family Planning Clinic, Albury
Nurse Pap test providers who consistently have the highest level of Pap test quality (endocervical component captured).

Alison is a clinical nurse consultant in sexual health. As well as being a superb Pap tester, Alison was instrumental in getting hundreds of young women who had slipped under the radar to have the HPV vaccination. Alison also received nominations for the Excellence in Preceptorship and Commitment to Underscreened Group categories.

Heather Scott, Foster Medical Centre
Living Legend Award:
The longest-serving nurse Pap test providers, who take Pap tests of consistently high quality.   

Heather, who has been a Pap test nurse for over 21 years, beat 450 Victorian Pap test nurses to the crown, which was awarded for the greatest number of years service to the Victorian cervical screening program and consistently high Pap test quality.

Sandy Anderson, PapScreen’s Nurse consultant was also recognised with a unique award for her tireless dedication to nurse Pap test providers.
